Dear Parents/Caregivers,

The Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) has released updated
information about fruit fly restrictions in South Australia including new colour coded maps
for metropolitan Adelaide and Riverland residents which show the outbreak areas,
suspension areas, and areas not affected by fruit fly. The maps can be used by parents to
inform them whether they can pack certain fruits and vegetables for their child’s recess or
lunch.

A summary of the advice on the restrictions is as follows:
The three letters relate to families living in the red, yellow or green zones. Zones can be
identified through the link provided above.
Playford College is located in the green suspension area but given the broad reach of our
community, we know our families come from all three zones.

1- Children, students and staff who live in the green area can bring any fresh fruit and
vegetables to school.

2- Children, students or staff who live in the red or yellow areas must not bring any fresh
fruit and vegetables on  this list (https://www.pir.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0005/359303/309365_-_Fruitfly_host_checklist_-_fruit_and_vegetables_list.pdf) to school. This applies even if it has been cut up.

We thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

With blessings,

Chris Riemann & Racha H. Makki
